Who we are

Grumpy’s Car Hire, 31 Papageien Road, Hochlandpark, Windhoek, Namibia. We are responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach us on info@grumpys.com.na or 081 122 0584.

What we collect

• When you send a booking request on this website: your name, email address and phone number, the car, the dates and places you choose, and any message you add.
• When you collect a car: your driver’s licence, your ID or passport, and what we need for the rental agreement, such as your address and signature.
• During the rental: the car’s condition, fuel and odometer at handover and return, photos of the car, and any fines or damage linked to the rental.
• If a car is fitted with a vehicle tracker, the tracker records where the car is and when it moves. We use this only to protect the car and to find it if it is stolen.
• When you contact us by WhatsApp, phone or email: what you tell us.

How we use it

• To reply to your request, send your quotation and confirm your booking.
• To prepare the rental agreement and hand over the car.
• To send you emails about your booking, such as the confirmation and a reminder the day before your return.
• To handle fines, damage, insurance claims and the refund of your deposit.
• To keep the accounting records the law requires.

We do not sell your information, and we do not send you marketing messages.

Who we share it with

• The services that run our website and booking system: Cloudflare hosts them, and Resend sends our booking emails. They handle your information on our behalf and only as we instruct.
• Our insurer, if there is an accident, damage or theft.
• The police or traffic authorities, when the law requires it, for example for a traffic fine.

Some of these services store information on servers outside Namibia.

How long we keep it

• Booking requests that do not go ahead: deleted within 12 months.
• Rental agreements, invoices and the records behind them: for as long as the law requires for accounting and tax, usually five years.

This website and cookies

• We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
• The site loads its typeface from Google Fonts, and the map in our contact section comes from Google Maps. When they load, Google receives your device’s IP address and may set its own cookies.
• The WhatsApp buttons open WhatsApp, which has its own privacy policy.

Keeping it safe

Only our staff can open the booking system, each with their own login, and everything is sent over encrypted connections.

Your rights

Namibia’s Constitution protects your privacy. You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it once we no longer need to keep it. Email info@grumpys.com.na and we reply within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we update it on this page. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
